About a month ago one of my many beauty nightmares came to life - it manifested in the form of the desecration of my immaculately groomed brows. Now i am well aware that we live in a messed up world and that loving your brows may seem a tad foolish, even a tad superficial (OK maybe a lot superficial), but the reality is I think brows are a integral part of the face canvas.

I had for some time been able to achieve what i considered the perfect balance of the full and fine brow. They were kept a tad on the dark side and had just subtlest arch…then it all came to a crashing end.

The truth is i have no-one to blame but my self ( and maybe a overzealous beautician). I walked in to the parlour, sat down and just said “ok go for it” … normally (in my experience) that translates roughly as just tidy the strays. But on this occasion it meant take to those babies like a hedge trimmer to a topiary bush….. I left with brows that had been threaded, plucked and trimmed… and don’t get me wrong they were immaculate… but they were not me nor were they my brows ….they were someones else’s immaculately groomed pencil thin and very arched brows…..
My friend all gave polite smiles and the manditory “babe they look fine”, but i could see they really wanted to get at me with a pencil and growth serum…
So here we are a month or so latter and my brows resemble a shaggy grown out mess… but soon …soon i tell you, they will rise up to their former glory…till then lets just look at pictures of pretty girls with great brows….

Call me crazy but to this very day – 20 something years on I still gauge much of what I do by whether my mum would be mortified by my actions. Sure there are exceptions to this - but I think it’s a gauge of the level of appropriateness of ones actions to assume that if you cant discuss it over dinner with your mum then its probably not something one should be doing.
I also apply this to my choices in fashion – I was raised to believe in a few simple rules, which are all aimed as preserving some level of dignity when I am out and about.
1 – when dressing choose either legs or boobs - never both –
2 – If you wear a short shirt always wear a full brief (if Brittney and Paris couldn’t pull it of neither can you)

3 – Exercise caution when sitting down in a skirt (especially if you cant manage #2)
4 – It is not ok to get your bits out in public – unless it’s dark and your somewhere exotic taking a dip etc.
The whole reason this has come up is because it was the spring racing carnival this week. In true Melbourne style the masses got dolled up and flocked to the track.

I had been warned that the general area cant get very boozy/dirty/trashy, but I was lucky it didn’t seem to bad- with the exception of one to many busty and curvy ladies in teeeeeennny, skin tight mini dresses with plunging necklines and those ladies who seemed incapable of wearing knickers and sitting with care.

I can’t help but wonder if maybe I had my rose coloured goggles on because the stories I have heard since have made me a very sad panda. One story involved a middle-aged lady pressing her naked breasts against a window …after her friend had fallen onto said window…
The thing that really makes me wonder is, I am sure most girls mothers would tell them the things my mum told me, so who exactly is telling them its ok to wear something completely wrong for the shape and to not bother with knickers?? Are these girls all getting dressed together and neglecting to do the right thing for each other and say “sister that shit is not cool”

So the point of the story is ladies remember your modesty and don’t forget to keep you dignity in your pocket – as trashy is not a good shade on anyone - even if your supposed bestie tell you it is!!

Well the semester is over, i am nearly done with just a few assessments left to go, hence forth i have returned ! It’s not that i don’t love you all, its just that there are simply not enough hours in the day - well now i have daylight savings so there’s at least a few more up my sleeve.
I have wanted to post this dress for quite some time now, but the weather just wasn’t good enough to get it in natural light (which what it needed to do it justice). It is the most amazing little slip dress comprised of vibrant shades of blue, red ,pink and green. It is a stark contrast to my usual monochromatic attire, but in the spirit of spring i am embracing my colourful side.
It comes courtesy of ZARA, i have been back a few times since acquiring this little numberk and well…. i found myself leaving a little un-inspired. I am hoping soon their dresses get a little more spunk, perhaps in time for Spring Racing season.
On that note, are you heading to any of the Spring racing events this year? My secret confession is that i am attending my first Cup day and i am also heading down to Oaks, hope to see you there!!
So what is everyone summer resolution?? i think mine will be commit some good hours to the beach with the dog and definitely some more quality time with those i love most.
Well i look forward to speaking with you again soon, now that i have reignited my commitment to summer inspired content. Now, if you will excuse there is some fruit salad ( the very definition of summer) calling my name.

Have you ever stopped and noticed the difference between men and women in the world of fashion in contrast to the male and female in the rest of the animal world?

In the animal world the male of the species is typically larger and more brightly coloured than the female. Wether it be that he has a bigger mane or more vibrant plumage, the male of a species generally far more exciting to look at than the female.

However when it comes to humans, we seem to have shifted this idea on its head. Woman are the ones adorned with long sweeping manes and vibrant, elaborate attire lest, the men are doomed to simple “suits” and the ol’ short back and sides.
So how is it that men in fashion seem to be able to draw the gaze of the viewer so intently, despite competing with the lithe females in the vibrant hues?
Whatever it is, there is no denying there is something amazing about many of the men found in the world of fashion. They seem to move in packs, wandering along perfectly groomed and delightfully dishevelled. For me they are barley what i find attractive in men, yet find my self stopping to stare at them…..dont even get me started on the androgynous men …..

Last night was my second round of Prospect 360 seminars “The PR Guru’s”. As the name would suggest the team at Prospect 360 brought together some of the PR/Media Relations industries best –

· Nick Hullet – GM Media and PR Collingwood Football Club

· John Lindsay – Media and External Relations OXFAM Australia

· Michelle Stamper – Head of Publicity: Nine network Melbourne

· Ann Morrison- of Ann Morrison PR.

The evening was held in the divine Crown Towers and proceeded much like the “Fashion Media” event, with the host of the night Matt Mitchell encouraging a flow of discussion from the panelists. So, now to what was said, this is my roundup of the best tips shared by these amazing individuals.
There was so much more, but I know that with the nature of the web not many of you will want to keep reading, so I will save the rest for another day. Overall it was a lovely night, the speakers all gave so much to those of us listening and were kind enough to stay after the event to chat and answer questions.
If your thinking of heading to one of these in the future but are not sure if it is right for you then I suggest going along, even if you learn nothing (which I highly doubt) then you will leave feeling inspired and motivated to achieve more than you thought you ever could. Lastly a big thanks to Greta and the team at Prospect for another great event.
